This means we are made up of survivors and survivor-allies of image-based abuse. All of our work is centered around the needs of survivors and lived-experience shapes our policy and legal campaigns. We believe in a system that not only fights for survivors of image-based abuse but also works to prevent harm.

#NotYourPorn is fighting for a future where:

The instances and forms of image-based sexual abuse are curtailed;

The porn industry, tech companies and online platforms are no longer allowed to facilitate image-based sexual abuse and profit from the exploitation of non-consenting adults, under 18s and sex workers;

Law and policy adequately protect non-consenting adults, sex workers and under 18s from image-based sexual abuse and are able to quickly adapt to the forms of harm rapidly evolving online;

Key services and stakeholders respond to image-based abuse in a coordinated and holistic way;

Lived-experience expertise is embedded into the systems designed to protect survivors of image-based sexual abuse;

The burden is reduced on image-based sexual abuse survivors to be their own investigation, advocate and lawyer;

Society understands what image-based sexual abuse entails, that image-based sexual abuse is abuse and that no one is entitled to access non-consensual content.

At #NotYourPorn, our work is designed around the following key pillars to bring about transformative change

Prioritise a holistic approach to policy and regulation

Our work takes a holistic approach to policy and regulation. We need a system that prioritises comprehensive, survivor-informed, sex positive and consent-based policy and regulation in relation to image-based abuse, whether in terms of regulating tech companies or individual perpetrators.

Develop protective systems and coordinated responses to image-based sexual abuse

Our goal is to create an effective multi-layered system of protections for survivors to minimise the likelihood and frequency of image-based sexual abuse. This requires systems to be developed with prevention in mind. It also requires coordinated response from the services and other key stakeholders that interact with survivors, facilitators and perpetrators of image-based abuse.

We work to raise awareness of all forms of image-based sexual abuse at local, national and international levels with a range of stakeholders (for example, police forces, judges, medical professionals, the general public, schools, members of government, parliamentarians, industry and international organisations/networks). Our societal understanding of image-based sexual abuse is a crucial tool in tackling image-based sexual abuse.

There is a reason so many survivors become campaigners - it’s because it is fundamental to their healing.

Every survivor has the right to make their own choices about what happens next. Our role is to provide information, support, and advocacy that empowers people to regain control on their own terms, not make decisions for them.

Image-based sexual abuse can affect anyone, and everyone deserves to be heard, believed, and supported. We are committed to creating an inclusive space where people of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences can access support without judgement.

While #NotYourPorn is predominantly UK-focused, we know image-based sexual abuse is a global issue that requires global solutions. We work to influence change across the world, and link survivors to support no matter their location.
