Survivor support
#NotYourPorn provides practical support to survivors, either delivering the support ourselves or helping survivors to access other legal, mental health or practical support.
We know that trying to access support for image-based abuse can be confusing and is often challenging.
#NotYourPorn survivor support and advocacy services are designed to be flexible and to adapt to the experiences of the survivor. While we offer some specific services, we also appreciate that survivors are often facing multiple challenges all at once in systems that don’t have clear pathways of support for image-based abuse. We try to fill the gaps where we can to help facilitate survivors to access support and healing, sometimes this means we need to think creatively when there isn’t a clear route to accessing support.
What support does #NotYourPorn offer?
#NotYourPorn specifically offers support with:
Information on image-based abuse
Triaging/referrals to other support services including legal services and mental health support services
Victims Rights To Review (either for the Police or the Crown Prosecution Service)
Police Complaints
Our work is not limited to the above areas. Given the nature of image-based abuse, support often needs to be tailored to the specific circumstances of the survivor. So often survivors are having to navigate complex support systems that aren’t designed with their experiences in mind. For this reason, it can be really hard for survivors to identify what they need. As such, we try to be flexible and adapt as much as possible. If you don’t need any of our specific services outlined above, but you do need support, it is always good to get in touch with us if you need support and we can see what we can do to help.
I need more than one type of support listed above: is that okay?
Yes, of course. Survivors often need multiple types of support.
